Journey to the Seventh Planet (1962)
Sort of a poor man's Solaris, starring John Agar (Shirley Temple's first husband). They land on Uranus and an alien "brain being" uses their thoughts and memories and makes them appear as reality. Made ten years before the movie Solaris, but one year after the novel was published.
The alien brain creates all these things from the astronauts' memories, but there's little that upsets or disturbs them. One keeps seeing his old girlfriends. They have no emotional reaction to anything.
Could have been far better. The Soviets and East Germans were light years ahead of the west in science fiction.
