Ark II
Holy crap. There's an episode on YouTube directed by Ted Post. According to imdb.com, Tracy Morgan appeared in an episode as a child (I doubt that's true).
I haven't thought of that show in years. Ark II, a Saturday morning live action science fiction series from the '70's. Three "highly trained" young people and a talking chimpanzee, all with biblical names, travel around southern California in a futuristic Winnebago using science to help people in the environmental wasteland of the 25th century. They have a futuristic dune buggy and an actual jet pack.
I came across DVDs of the series on Amazon then found them posted on YouTube.
When I was kid, I loved science fiction, but the sort of science fiction where people wear bright colors and murder each other with ray guns.
This thing didn't have violence. They show a kid jumping off a cliff with a hang glider he made himself---they showed a child nearly killing himself, but they didn't want to encourage violence.
The episode (supposedly) with Tracy Morgan was based on Oliver Twist. Another was based on Robin Hood. In the Robin Hood episode, the counterrevolutionaries of Ark II stop Robin and his band of men who laugh merrily at things that aren't funny from fighting a Prince John-like character.
It might have been interesting if they had had some ideological viewpoint. And by that I mean if it had been Marxist-Leninist or maybe Maoist.
